When you’re in your eighties, you get to do a lot of things you wouldn’t dare to do at a younger age. The reason is simple: society frowns upon those who break the rules, particularly when it comes to marriage and relationships. But at this age, it’s a whole different game and you’ve earned the right to re-write the rules. Your relationships and your feelings have moved way beyond externals and this allows you to lose the fear of being hurt because of your vulnerability.

The perfect day for somebody who has lived this long consists of waking up, thanking God for being alive and then proceeding to do things that they enjoy doing. Lou and Reva would not have it any other way.

The sad reality is that many octogenarians think that they don’t have much of a future so they tend to live in the past. Lou and Reva disagree with this common mindset.

Lou learned to paint in his twenties whereas Reva didn’t take lessons until she was in her fifties and her youngest son had gone off to college. It had been her lifelong dream, but she had not been able to fulfill it. First because her father opposed anything that had to do with art, and secondly because she got married and got too busy.

These two widowed artists met on the plane on their way to a painting tour to England and talked during the entire flight. When they got to the hotel it was discovered that Reva was assigned a small room that felt more like a closet, while Lou was given a large and spacious room with a great view. It was then that Reva packed her suitcases, knocked on Lou’s door, and moved in with him. He didn’t object at all and they’ve been inseparable ever since.

The couple is happy together and they share a lot of interests. They are indeed an interesting duo: Reva is very outspoken and paints large, modern canvases. Her favorite things to paint are the flowers she has grown in her garden. Lou is soft spoken and prefers to paint traditional portraits and landscapes.

In spite of the difficulties they have faced individually, including the death of loved ones, they have managed to remain cheerful and to see this second chance at love as a wonderful gift. Watch this amazing story now.
