The Good Fight
The people who live in Complexo do Alemao, a favela in Rio Di Janeiro, know a thing or two about losing loved ones to gun violence. Most of them believe that the government has turned its back on them completely and abandoned them.
A good education is not readily available and most even lack basic sanitary conditions. The deathtraps of tangled wires and inadequate structures they call home are unfit for human life.
Drug dealers run the community and have all the money, so they call the shots.
Alan Duarte has lived in this favela his entire life and he has never seen a family member die of natural causes; all of them have been murdered. When an older brother that he idolized and saw as a father figure was shot to death, Duarte knew it was time to take a different path.
In the midst of all the confusion, there came a ray of hope. Duarte found an NGO in a neighboring favela and started taking boxing and personal development classes. Needless to say his life was changed and he is now changing many other lives. Watch this inspiring film now.
