Bougainville Island, with a populations of only 160,000, used to be home to one of the largest mines on Earth. In an act of heroic resistance, the people of Bougainville rose up in an environmental revolt and managed to have the mine shut down and kept shut.
They held their ground for a decade with antique weapons and homemade guns. These people took on the biggest mining company in the world and won.
The multi-award winning documentary film about this historic struggle which has been considered to be the world’s first successful eco-revolution.
