The Enemy Within
Canada captured and housed Nazi POWs during World War II. In twenty five camps across Canada, German soldiers spent years of their life. Filmmaker Eva Colmers explores her father’s story: a man who spent four years in a POW camp in Alberta. And loved it.
Growing up in Germany, she had always been puzzled by her father’s fond memories of his POW life, so when she moved to Canada, she set out to rediscover this story. What she found surprised her. Watch as Theo Melzer, along with other POWs, recount how their lives were changed by the unexpected respect and dignity they received at the hands of their Canadian captors. Watch The ENEMY WITHIN.
good doc. i enjoyed it a lot ….
Great doc! I am proud to know that we used to be such a country!
You still are a good country. Times change and we must adjust to ensure our safety. Dont forget where you come from.
Marvellous! Some sanity among the insanity of war.
A very nice documentary. It shows the good in people.
What a terrific documentary. One only need watch this, and will understand what makes Canada such a beautiful place to live. To remain humane during a time of insanity, (2nd world war) is proof positive that morality rules the day. Perhaps it is fine time that ideologies that wish to disregard the Geneva convention, (you know who you are) need to be reminded that what goes around comes around. It is tragic that every empire that falls (they all do) has to find out the hard way that winning at any cost is not winning, it is only selling your soul for short term reward. Live, and learn – the point of life! Take care everyone.
